When I was 22 years old I finished my first year of college and walked away. Now 19 years later I am wanting to finish my college degree but now in Christian Ministry.

If I was going back to school to finish my original degree I would know exactly where to go. However, seeing as how my path has been changed I am a little confused on who the better christian college is. I will be completing my degree completely online and am somewhat liberal but still closet conservative.

The schools I am considering are:

(my top 2)
Regent University
Liberty University

(unsure)
Mid-America Christian University
Moody Bible Institute
Oral Roberts University

Your thoughts on each of the schools, the "better" schools, etc. would be much appreciated.

God Bless

Brad

This is pretty subjective as people have different views on what makes a school "better". For instance when I was choosing schools I kept one thing in mind; expense. I knew (despite whatever athletic scholarship I got) I would have to pay for my schooling. While my friends were going to the big name colleges I chose a University that was far away from home, offered me a scholarship to play football, was inexpensive and had a teacher to student ratio of 13:1. The small classrooms was a bonus for me. While my friends were 'numbers' in classrooms with up to 300 students (some even more) I got to know my professors on a first name basis. That University was a great choice for me. Some people wouldn't have been able to take the small town feeling or the professors knowing them and getting on them about their papers or things like that which are generally associated with a smaller University. But for me, I excelled there and was very happy with my choice.

So it is really what you are looking for in a University that matters. What are some things that you are looking for in a University? I pray that God will bless you abundantly in this.

God bless you

My sister takes online courses from Regent and loves them.
I also have two friends who completed their BAs at Liberty's campus, and adored their time there.
I also have friends who have completed ministry degrees at Moody and also loved it. One now teaches there part-time as well.

As a recent college grad, the questions I would ask myself if I could go back an evaluate schools would be:
- who has the better program in my chosen field? (ie - who are the professors, what is their background, what makes their program stand out/unique)
- affordability - which school will offer me the best program at the most cost-effective rate? how much am I willing to take on in terms of debt?
- requirements - how much practical field experience or internships will be required or available in my area? what are the course requirements in one school vs. another? which schools requirements and offered programs will give me the skills that match up best to what employers are looking for in the workforce today?
- what percentage of their graduates actually find work in their chosen field post-graduation? what kind of career-placement help and contacts can they offer me?
- Is this a school I could see myself remaining involved in long-term? what is their alumni association like? would I want my children to go their someday?

Just a few thoughts...good luck in the uni hunt!
